Frequently asked

Which words count as "small words"?

Common short connector words: a, an, the, of, in, on, for, and, or, to, at, by. When skipping is on, these are dropped from the acronym unless one happens to be the very first word of your phrase.

Why does the first word always get included?

Acronyms conventionally start with the phrase's first letter regardless of what that word is, so the first word is always used even if it would otherwise be skipped as a small word.

What's the difference between the two output formats?

The plain form is just the letters run together, like "ASAP". The with-periods form spells it out as "A.S.A.P.", which some style guides prefer.

Does capitalization in my input matter?

No, every letter is uppercased in the result regardless of how you typed the original phrase.
