Are my files uploaded to your servers?
No. Every operation (rendering, editing, exporting) runs in this tab's JavaScript. Nothing about your document or its content is ever transmitted.
What's the difference between Whiteout and Redact?
Whiteout draws an opaque box over content (visually hidden, but the text underneath is technically still in the file and can be extracted by anyone who knows to look. Redact actually removes it: that page gets rasterized to an image with the box burned into the pixels, so the underlying text is genuinely gone. Most free tools online only offer the first one and call it redaction) we don't.
Can I add real fillable form fields, not just text?
Yes. The form-field tools create actual interactive AcroForm fields (text fields and checkboxes) that any PDF reader can fill in, not a flattened image of one. Most free online editors only let you fill in forms that already exist; this one lets you build them.
Can I edit text that's already in the PDF?
Yes (pick the Edit existing text tool and click any line. We detect that exact run using the PDF's own text layer, cover it, and drop an editable box pre-filled with the original words in its place. To be upfront about how it works: it's a precise cover-and-replace, not a rewrite of the PDF's underlying content stream) no browser tool can do that reliably without breaking font and layout data, and that's true even of Acrobat's own text-edit feature under the hood. It looks and works like in-place editing, reads back as real, selectable text, and covers the vast majority of real edits: fixing a typo, swapping a name or date, correcting a line. It works best on plain, light backgrounds, and the replacement uses a close-matching standard font rather than the document's exact embedded one.
Is there an undo?
Yes. Full undo/redo (Ctrl/Cmd+Z, Shift+Z to redo) covers every page and annotation change for the whole session.
Does this work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded.
